What was your biggest fear before hiring Roseville Bridal Boudoir Photography? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead?

My biggest fear was not knowing what to do or how to do it, such as facial expressions, poses, outfits, etc. Jillian really helped me with everything, which enabled me to let loose a little and have fun!

What, specifically, was your favorite part of your experience, and why?

My favorite part was creating the entire experience with Roseville Bridal Boudoir Photography, from each pose and outfit, as we went along. I didn’t really have any expectations… I let Jillian work her magic and she was really amazing. We leveraged some poses from some images I shared with her, but for the most part we built the experience together leveraging ideas “on the fly”. Jillian is extremely talented, she doesn’t just take pictures, she’s a master of boudoir photography!

What advice would you give to someone considering booking a session with Roseville Bridal Boudoir Photography?

I would encourage someone to watch videos or talk to friends who have posed for professional pictures before. I had never done a professional photography session and although I did relatively well, had I understood and practiced the basics of posing, facial expressions, etc, I think it would have made my experience even better. You don’t have to be a pose expert by any means, just understanding some simple tips and tricks will help both you and Jillian in the session.

What responses did you get from your Beloved/friends/family about your images?

I shared the images (book) with my fiance this past weekend (for his 50th birthday) and he was literally stunned. He had no idea I was planning/doing a personalized photoshoot and nearly got emotional because nobody has ever done anything like this for him before. I shared the photos with friends and their reactions were extremely positive as well, everyone just loved them!

What types of negative things (if any) did you tell yourself before your session with Roseville Bridal Boudoir Photography (ie I don’t look like a model, I should lose x lbs, I have stretch marks, too old, etc.)?

Honestly, I didn’t have any negative vibes or thoughts – this experience was intended to capture me for who I am, not to look like a model, not to lose a bunch of weight that I’d just gain back anyway. The images capture who I am… including the stretch marks, moles, flabby areas, and yes, even the age spots. I am not a model therefore I did not expect to look like one. What I wanted was to capture myself in an intimate setting and to share it with my beloved, because he is the only one who truly knows and sees me in the rawest of forms. I will look back on these images in 5, 10, 20 years and be so glad I did it!

What did your experience do to silence those doubts?

No doubts whatsoever! I set the date, listed my goals, and worked creatively to achieve them. My goals were: 1) Keep it a secret, 2) Conspired with friends to help me uphold that secret, and 3) Have fun!

What did you take away from your experience at Roseville Bridal Boudoir Photography that surprised you the most?

I was a lot more comfortable and open than I thought I would be. And I embraced the experience without any vulnerabilities and I was surprised at how easy it was. I let my inhibitions down and shared the photos with family, friends, etc. One friend told me she was so impressed that I opened myself up and shared personal (some half-naked) photos with people other than Chrys. I am actually proud of them and have no reason not to share them with my closest friends. They will NOT go on Facebook by any means, just shared with my inner-circle.
