When we did her shoot a few years ago (I know, I’m terrible at keeping up with this blogging thing, that’s why this is posted on a throwback Thursday!) I could tell Ms J wasn’t sure this was going to be a good idea, as much as she seemed ready to step out of her comfort zone. That’s pretty normal, and it doesn’t take long for women to get comfortable, we were laughing, we were crying, we bonded and it was awesome. xo
What made you decide to have a Boudoir Session? The idea of seeing myself as beautiful is important to me now that I have a daughter. I am so disconnected and unhappy with my body…I don’t want the way I see myself rubbing off on my girl at all so I’m trying to change my perspective and self worth. It’s something I’ve been considering for years … When I lose weight, when I have the extra money… All the normal someday chatter. Now I feel I’m not getting any younger and I need the self esteem boost more than ever. I am lost. I am a mom of five ages 3 to 16. My only familiar side is mom. I am told I am a great mom but that is all I am. I want to rock my world by doing this and shake up the way I feel and see myself. I want to believe my husband when he tells me I’m beautiful and not just telling me that to be nice. I also really want to do this for him and our marriage. I want him to have a really great visual.
What was your biggest fear? Did it come true, and if not, what happened instead? My biggest fear was that the bully inside my head that has the loudest voice, unfortunately would be right and I would look awful and foolish. It did not come true, I love my pictures!
What was your favorite part of your experience, and why? My favorite part of the experience was how much fun I had with Jillian. It was instantly comfortable and easy to trust her and her vision for the session.
What advice would you give to someone considering a session with us? Do not hesitate! Go for it and enjoy the experience!
What responses did you get from your Beloved/friends/family about your images? My husband was so impressed he cried a little. He loves all of them and has some of his favorite ones hug on the wall next to his side of the bed.
What did you enjoy most during the planning process? The shopping and self care that came along with planning was so fun and a reminder that facials and waxings should happen more often!
What did you take away from your experience that surprised you the most? I have a new voice that talks down the bully when I start being mean to myself.
What three words describe your experience best? Fun enlightening inspiring
What three words describe us the best? Professional fun creative
