When Ms R contacted me about boudoir photos, one of the first questions I ask is “What made you decide to have boudoir photos taken”? Her answer was oh-so-familiar!
“I had a son 14 months ago and haven’t been too upbeat about my new body. I feel like the best way to get over that is to embrace it and take it on with a photo shoot. I may not be my version of perfect, but I know I am still beautiful and capable of having flattering photos. This photo shoot is going to help me overcome my insecurities and remember that even though I am a mother, I can still be sexy. I think for a lot of new moms, as well as myself, that is a hard combination to juggle.”
We had such a blast together at her boudoir photo shoot, laughing and telling stories, getting to know each other. Ms R is a staggering blend of edgy and super gooey inside; she impressed me so much with her worldview and her ability to give so much of herself. When she left, it was hugs all around, and a lighter spring in her step.
Recently I asked her how she feels *now* about her shoot:
What was your biggest fear about having boudoir photos taken? I was so afraid my photos would turn out unattractive. Walking into the studio I held my breath. I actually wore my shirt backwards unknowingly because of nerves. As soon as I was greeted at the door by Jillian I instantly felt comfortable. All of my fears went away. She is so kind and funny, we laughed through the entire shoot. I had so much fun, I really didn’t care how the photos came out…or so I thought. OMG. When I saw the results of the shoot I could have died. I felt so beautiful! Literally the best outcome I could have wished for…Jillian has so much talent, she can show the beauty in anyone.
What, specifically, was your favorite part of your experience, and why? Laughing through the shoot. It had a way of melting away my fears and insecurities. The photos showed my relaxed, beautiful self and I don’t think that would have been possible without the laughter in between the camera snaps.
What advice would you give to someone considering booking boudoir session with us? DO IT! Don’t worry about the money, or if the photos will come out as pretty as the ones you’ve seen on Facebook or Instagram. I promise it is worth every penny and the photos will amaze you. You’ll have a piece to look at later, when you’ve had a bad day, or you don’t feel attractive…you’ll have a physical reminder of your inner beauty that came out in the photos.
What responses did you get from your Beloved/friends/family about your images? They told me I should model. Lol. At 5’6″ & 185 lbs, not sure that it true, but it certainly made me feel good.
What did you enjoy most during the planning process? The ease of planning and sharing ideas. Using Pinterest to share pose & outfit ideas made thing easy.
What did you take away from your experience that surprised you the most? That I AM BEAUTIFUL! It shows in the photos.
