There is a lot of fear when it comes to boudoir…so I totally get it. Overcoming your fears and loving yourself is not easy to do, so I don’t want this blog post to come off as if it is no big deal. But I did want to touch on some of the fears that I see show up in my studio. Keep in mind, these fears are magnified here because my beautiful goddesses step into their vulnerability, and that’s hard…but these fears exist outside of here as well.
So I think it’s important that we chat about some of them.
Overcoming Your Fears and Loving Yourself
There are obviously so many feelings that come with our fears. Anxiety, stress, and everything in between. And clearly, there are many kinds of fears…some rational…some irrational. The ones I want to focus on today are the ones that show up on the other side of my lens. The ones that are put to ease after my gorgeous clients step out of their own way and let that inner goddess shine.
These are fears that have to do with ourselves. And oftentimes, they are the ones that keep us from loving ourselves the way we should.
So what are we to do? Well, boudoir session or not, these common fears exist. And although I’m not a therapist, I do love how being aware of our fears and finding simple ways to overcome them can help in our everyday lives.
One of my favorite ways to do that is with affirmations.
The 8 Most Common Fears I See and an Affirmation to Overcome Them
Fear of Embarrassment – “I love who I am, and that’s what matters.”
Fear of Getting Older – “My body has always been with me and loved me…and I love her back.”
Fear of Inadequacy – “I have a goddess within me.”
Fear of Imperfections – “I am perfect the way I am. Always have been and always will be.”
Fear of Judgement – “I find joy in the person I have become.”
Fear of Not Being in Control – “Adventure is calling. And I’m answering with joy and light.”
Fear of Uncertainty – “The unknown is scary to me, but I trust in myself and in those alongside me in my journey.”
Fear of Yourself – “The goddess within me is divine. She will not harm me”
As I write out these affirmation statements, it makes me realize that so many of these fears have to do with Self-Confidence. It’s my passion in life to bring out the best in my clients, which means helping them reclaim their self-confidence and self-compassion. I want them to see themselves the way their loved ones see them…perfect and lovely in every way.
