Self-Confidence: 5 Ways to Practice Self-Confidence

Here we are! We made it to the last post of the 3 Self-C’s series, and I don’t know about you…but I hope this series has been just as healing for you to read as it was for me to write. Today we are going to chat about self-confidence.

As we’ve talked about, I truly believe that self-compassion leads to self-care…and self-care leads to self-confidence. Self-confidence is the goal here, but I don’t think it can be your first step to your best self.

I’m not sure self-confidence comes without having practiced self-compassion and self-care. There’s something about treating yourself with love, care, and respect that breeds confidence.

So let’s talk a little bit more about 5 ways to practice self-confidence.

So Why is Self-Confidence So Hard?

It doesn’t just show up out of thin air, am I right?

Out of all of the self-c’s, self-confidence feels the hardest. Mostly because, as I’ve highlighted, I don’t think you can have much self-confidence if you aren’t showing yourself compassion or taking care of yourself the way you deserve.

But also, as much as women are stepping up to normalize all shapes and sizes, there is still a picture of beauty that has been imprinted in our brains and hearts. We know it’s not true with our minds….but it still lingers, and we can’t help but sometimes say things to ourselves like, “I wish my nose was smaller…why can’t I have hair like hers…my cellulite is pissing me off…” and so on.

Want to know what’s funny? Out of the 5 self-confidence practices I’ve put together…NONE of them have anything to do with how we look. So I can’t wait to see which ones you want to start implementing in your daily lives!

5 Ways to Practice Self-Confidence

Daily Affirmation

The words we say to ourselves in our heads or out loud MATTERS! In the 5 Ways to Practice Self-Compassion blog post, I challenged you to write “I AM ENOUGH” on a post-it or mirror so that you were reminded DAILY how enough you are.

Let’s make a habit of affirming ourselves daily. Pick one or all of these affirmations and say them to yourself every morning!

I AM BEAUTIFUL AND I AM ENOUGH

I AM BECOMING MY BEST SELF

I AM FULL OF ENERGY AND LIGHT

I AM PERFECT THE WAY THAT I AM

I AM BLESSED AND FILLED WITH GRATITUDE

Empower the Women in Your Life

Almost nothing feels better than empowering and instilling confidence in others…and somehow, the confidence spills over to ourselves too when we do so.

And the truth is, if you find yourself having feelings of discouragement and self-doubt, the women in your life might be feeling that way too. Let’s pick up their crown. Send the encouraging text, send them the note that you’ve been thinking about them, make that phone call. It all matters.

Take Care of Your Health

This isn’t about the way that you look. It’s about how you feel. It’s fueling your body and mind with what it needs to live it’s best life. Telling your body that it’s worth caring for builds confidence.

And this doesn’t have to be big scary lifestyle changes. Try the simple things…drink more water, get more sleep, take your vitamins. That doesn’t feels so overwhelming, right?

Notice Your Posture

It’s simple, yet effective. It’s hard to feel down on yourself when you have your shoulders back and chin lifted high.

Check your posture throughout the day and stand up tall, beautiful!

Buy Some New Lingerie

I’m partial to this one. But if you saw what I get to see every day…you would be too. I get to see women slip into something that makes them feel GOOD. And their attitude and posture change right before my eyes.

Studies show that women feel better when they wear lingerie that makes them feel sexy under their everyday clothes.

I challenge you to find some new lingerie that you feel comfortable in but that you know will bring out the inner confidence that’s hiding in there.

You can change your life with self-compassion, self-care, and self-confidence. Imagine what your world would look like if you not only accepted yourself, but LOVED yourself the way that you are? What would it look like to feel worthy of love and care.  What would it feel like to have unexplainable confidence?
