8 Reasons to Schedule a Boudoir Photoshoot

Did you know that there are other reasons to schedule a boudoir photoshoot other than a wedding gift? YEP! Documenting your body throughout different stages of life may sound strange at first, but the way I look at it, you are actually documenting your CONFIDENCE.

So before we get into the 8 REAL reasons to schedule a boudoir session, let’s take a deeper look at, “what’s the point?”

What’s the point of boudoir photography?

I want to share with you some statistics that are sad…but, unfortunately, not shocking.

Dove did some research in an effort to address the self-esteem and body image issues that women face.  Here is what they found:

  • Only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful (up from 2% in 2004)
  • 80% of women agree that every woman has something about her that is beautiful, but do not see their own beauty
  • More than half of women globally (54%) agree that when it comes to how they look, they are their own worst beauty critic

This is why I advocate the way I do. Your body shouldn’t be the reason your miss out on life…it should be the reason you celebrate it.

This is the point of boudoir photography…to celebrate life, to celebrate your body, and to celebrate YOU.

8 Reasons to Schedule a Boudoir Photoshoot

You’re getting married and want to document YOU

This is about YOU, gorgeous. Helping you see yourself as your beloved sees you is my job. One of my clients said it best when she self-titled her session, “Through the Eyes of Love.”

Of course, this will be a fun surprise for your soon to be beloved…but doing a boudoir session is all about you!

You’re Pregnant

So many changes. And every woman is so different in how they experience pregnancy. Some feel radiant and glowing…some honestly feel like the pits. Either way…boudoir allows you to document the beautiful changes your body is going through during this time in your life. And they will be cherished by you forever.

One of my favorite prenatal boudoir sessions was with this Empowered Mama. All the heart eyes!

You Are Recently Divorced or Have Experienced Betrayal

In a difficult time like a divorce or even going through betrayal, it’s inevitable that our self-confidence will suffer.  And although walking through the stages of grief in these situations is also inevitable…confidence can be RECLAIMED.

The situation you are living through doesn’t have to claim your self-love. Booking a boudoir photoshoot will allow you to take a day to get pampered, feel sexy, and love yourself. Take is from one of my all time favorite sessions – Ms. J’s Journey to Renewing Strength

You Are Entering The Dating Pool Again

It’s simple, yet effective. It’s hard to feel down on yourself when you have your shoulders back and chin lifted high.

Check your posture throughout the day and stand up tall, beautiful!

You Want to Embrace Your Body

Living in the body we are in is a journey in and of itself, isn’t it? So many ups and downs during the different stages of life. Whether you are celebrating some weight loss, showing off plastic surgery results, feeling down about your post-partum weight…they are ALL reasons to book that boudoir session.

You can read the stories of Beating the Mommy Blues and Embracing the Weightloss Journey with these beauties who shared their experience with me.

Celebrating the body that has literally been through the ringer with us is reason enough to show up for yourself.

You Are Celebrating a Milestone Birthday

Celebrating a 30th, 40th, or 50th birthday? Heck yes!!! Show yourself what you’re made of. These are the images that you’ll look back on and remember how good it felt to truly love yourself, your body, and your resilience.

As An Anniversary Gift

As much as I encourage women to get their boudoir session booked for THEM…I guess their significant other can have a peek. 😉 Surprising your beloved with an anniversary gift is never a bad idea.

As A Deployment Gift

And along those lines, I know we have many military lovers who spend months and even years away from each other. Doing a session to gift before or after deployment I’m sure will be very appreciated. 😉

So Is a Boudoir Photoshoot Worth It?

You tell me! Hehe. Just kidding. But between celebrating YOURSELF, seeing yourself through the eyes of the ones that love you most, feeling confidence in your own skin, and embracing the body that has been through so much with you, I’d say a boudoir photoshoot is timeless and absolutely worth it.

Now I may be biased, but my job is not just being behind the lens…it’s empowering women. AND I LOVE IT.
