Modest Boudoir Outfits: Is there such a thing?

Is there such a thing as modest boudoir outfits?

We at Sacramento Boudoir Photography Certainly Think So!

When we hear that B word, we can easily picture something daring and sexy and sultry or a woman (probably, you) in your most intimate and sassy outfits and lingerie. But what if that scares you too much? What if you don’t want to expose so much skin, but still want the experience of seeing yourself as the Goddess you are?

True enough, there IS such a thing as modest boudoir outfits because boudoir doesn’t have to mean that you’re all stripped down. If you don’t feel like baring it all, you can put on beautiful yet still very sexy pieces of lingerie, clothing, and even sweatshirts, shirts, or shorts.

This suggestion is actually not an out-of-this-world idea and is even used by most women who feel like too bare is too much. Most of the time, modest boudoir outfits bring out the inner “sexy” of a person rather than requiring “sexiness” to be synonymous with daring, lace-y (and too revealing) lingerie.

So how can you pull off a modest boudoir outfit?

Select something that can cover your body. You can opt for thin, lacey, or semi-transparent cover-ups. This can show off a bit of your undies but it will definitely cover most parts of your body. But if that’s still a wee bit daring, fret not. There are far more options for modest boudoir outfits.

Choose to wear a shirt and just your undies for your bottom half.  Wear boy shorts to make it look sexier and more modest, or a cheeky tanga to spice things up. You can pull off a gorgeous look even with a plain white tee–the epitome of a modest boudoir outfit!

You might want to wear something from your Beloved’s closet, too. Be it his favorite shirt or sports jersey or even his baseball cap. He’ll accuse you of being a culprit of a wardrobe raid but he’ll be thankful for how you commandeer his stuff for your session.

If you want to accentuate more of your upper body, then invert the examples above. You can have your bottom half wearing denim shorts or boyfriend jeans and pair it with a lovely, lacey bra. Opt for a tube, halter, or plunging dress–even your wedding dress partly taken off.

But what really brings out the sass in modest boudoir is simple: your make-up, your environment, and your poses and facial expressions. We will tailor your make-up style to look as sultry and sexy as you want, or you can go au natural if you’re trying to pull off a sweeter, more innocent look.

Lastly, your poses and facial expressions will bring more of the attitude of confidence, and even sexiness in. It’s how you portray and express yourself that will really matter most; that’s something we will work on together during your shoot.

Your boudoir shoot will reflect what makes YOU feel empowered, beautiful, confident, and even sexy. That includes your wardrobe!

This dress is literally a swimsuit coverup. You can see yourself wearing something like that, can’t you?

His Shirt

Ms T brought in her hubby’s motorcycle vest. It was way too big for her to wear without swimming in it, so we used it as a cover up on the bed. He LOVED it!
